About The Position

This locum position requires a physician to cover two periods: 11/27 at 8:00 AM through 12/4 at 8:00 AM, and 12/25 at 8:00 AM through 1/4/2027 at 8:00 AM. The role demands expertise in endoscopic procedures, requiring the candidate to currently perform a high volume of scopes. The position offers a comprehensive scope of practice typical of rural community surgeons, encompassing office-based general surgery services, common diagnoses, and a wide range of procedural competencies.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 100 colonoscopies performed in the last 12 months, including at least 20 polypectomies.
  • At least 25 esophagogastroduodenoscopies (EGDs) performed in the last 12 months.
  • Currently perform a high volume of scopes.

Responsibilities

  • Perform initial consultations for prevalent general surgery concerns.
  • Execute minor procedures.
  • Provide patient and family education and counseling.
  • Order diagnostic tests and facilitate referrals to relevant specialties.
  • Coordinate with primary care providers (PCPs).
  • Perform operative and endoscopic procedures including anal sphincterotomy, anoscopy, appendectomies, breast procedures, colonoscopies, cholecystectomies, colon surgeries, debridement of burns/ulcers/wounds, EGDs, exam under anesthesia, removal of foreign bodies, hemorrhoid management, hernia repairs, intra-abdominal procedures, placement of PEG and feeding tubes, skin and soft tissue interventions, and limited vascular procedures.
