About The Position

Upchurch is seeking an experienced General Superintendent to lead field operations for our DFW construction projects. Based out of our Arlington office, this position will oversee the execution of mechanical and plumbing work across multiple active projects throughout the market. The General Superintendent will provide leadership to project superintendents, foremen, and field teams while partnering closely with Project Managers and Operations leadership to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with schedule, quality, and budget expectations. This role is intended for an experienced mechanical construction leader who understands large-scale HVAC, piping, and plumbing installations and can provide strong operational oversight across multiple projects.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive field experience in commercial mechanical and plumbing construction.
  • 5+ years of experience in a Superintendent, General Superintendent, or similar senior field leadership role.
  • Strong experience overseeing large and complex commercial construction projects.
  • Extensive knowledge of HVAC, hydronic piping, mechanical piping, and plumbing systems.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical construction sequencing, installation methods, and field coordination.
  • Experience managing self-perform field labor across multiple projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead superintendents, foremen, and skilled trades professionals.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, schedules, and project documentation.
  • Strong knowledge of construction safety practices and OSHA requirements.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and make sound operational decisions in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel regularly to project sites throughout the DFW area.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee field operations across multiple mechanical and plumbing construction projects in the DFW market.
  • Lead, mentor, and support project superintendents, foremen, and field leadership.
  • Coordinate manpower needs and field resources across active and upcoming projects.
  • Partner with Project Managers and Operations leadership on project planning, scheduling, sequencing, and execution.
  • Conduct regular jobsite visits to evaluate progress, productivity, quality, safety, and field conditions.
  • Identify and address field challenges that may impact schedule, labor performance, or project execution.
  • Ensure field teams understand project drawings, specifications, scope, and installation requirements.
  • Provide guidance on mechanical and plumbing installation methods, constructability, sequencing, and coordination.
  • Support project teams with labor planning, equipment needs, material readiness, and overall field logistics.
  • Maintain consistent field standards and expectations across DFW construction projects.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure company and project-specific safety requirements are followed.
  • Work closely with project teams to identify potential risks and resolve issues before they impact project performance.
  • Support project startup, preconstruction handoff, scheduling, and operational planning efforts.
  • Assist in developing and evaluating field leadership and identifying opportunities for advancement within the organization.
  • Participate in recruiting and interviewing key field leadership positions as needed.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with General Contractors, trade partners, vendors, and project stakeholders.
  • Represent Upchurch professionally while reinforcing accountability, communication, teamwork, and quality throughout field operations.
