About The Position

The General Superintendent for Flintco's EPC Utility-Scale Solar division is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing multiple projects within the division or a single large-revenue project. This position requires multi-level project and personnel supervision, including the coordination of subcontractors and suppliers. The General Superintendent will supervise other Superintendents and Senior Superintendents, guiding their projects and field crews.

Requirements

  • Ability to understand detailed construction projects plans, schedules, and estimates.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, shop drawings, and specifications.
  • Ability to calculate square footage, volumes, and percentages using a personal computer or calculator.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to prepare and update project schedules, transmittals, and submittals using personal computer software.
  • Ability to manage large groups of personnel.
  • Ability to accomplish desired results through subordinate levels of management with little or no supervision.
  • At least 10 years of progressively responsible experience in EPC Utility-Scale Solar construction.
  • Experience in management of field personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the review of all project schedules assigned with Project Directors, Vice President of Pre-Construction, and project management teams to comprehend project plans, specifications, schedules, and bid proposals.
  • Delegate orientation of assigned Project Superintendent(s) and/or Foremen to outline their specific project duties.
  • Coordinate all Superintendent assignments on the project, including staffing, and advise on scheduling, submittals, quality control, and assist with the project submittal process as requested.
  • Confirm notification of subcontractors and suppliers to review project schedules.
  • Monitor potential changes to contracts, project conditions, and scope of work, and provide documentation as requested.
  • Advise the Vice President/Area Manager and/or Project Manager of possible claims or disputes and provide documentation.
  • Oversee the submission of required company documents (e.g., timesheets, delivery tickets) by Superintendents and/or Foremen.
  • Administer personnel issues of subordinates, including mediation and resolution of conflicts, and consult with the Vice President/Area Manager regarding layoffs/termination.
  • Demonstrate and promote positive attitudes, communicate and work respectfully with others, and enforce adherence to intra-company communication channels and corporate/project-specific policies.
  • Obtain daily production information from Project Superintendent and/or Foremen, distribute to the Construction Manager weekly, and monitor jobsite production rates to ensure bid productions and strategy are met.
  • Track the project schedule and keep the Project Manager informed of progress.
  • Discuss project equipment schedule projections with the Project Manager.
  • Attend all project Owner meetings and submit required information for pay applications.
  • Review job cost reports with the Project Manager to ensure accuracy and address deviations from project estimations.
  • Attend project close-out meetings as requested.
  • Set employee expectations regarding personal development and succession planning.
  • Monitor all daily activities of assigned projects and provide direction and oversight to Project Superintendent(s) and/or Foremen.
  • Consult with Project Superintendent(s) and/or Foremen on daily needs for manpower, equipment, layout, materials, and subcontractors.
  • Discuss manpower and equipment requirements, shortages, or changes with the Construction Manager.
  • Coordinate daily line-up information for all assigned projects and report to the Project Manager.
  • Coordinate with the Project Manager for any needs for field survey/engineering/GPS files.
  • Recognize equipment abuse and provide guidance to project superintendents, foremen, field maintenance personnel, and hourly employees.
  • Implement and comply with the company safety program, promoting project safety for all personnel and the public.
  • Communicate safety and compliance concerns to the Area Safety Director.
  • Report all incidents and/or accidents to the Area Safety Director and Project Manager immediately.
  • Complete post-accident/incident reports and forward them to the Safety Director.
  • Facilitate and record weekly toolbox talks and complete project safety and compliance forms.
  • Perform daily safety jobsite walk-arounds and complete necessary documents as required by contract specifications.
