About The Position

The General Repair and Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the safety, functionality, appearance, and operation of Nebraska Urban Indian Health Coalition facilities and grounds. This position performs a wide range of repair, maintenance, and preventative maintenance tasks to ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for clients, staff, visitors, and community members. The Technician will support NUIHC's mission by ensuring facilities remain operational and compliant with applicable health, safety, and building standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in building maintenance, facility repair, construction, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and general building maintenance.
  • Ability to safely operate maintenance tools, equipment, and machinery.
  • Valid driver's license and insurable driving record.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on building systems, equipment, furnishings, and fixtures.
  • Troubleshoot and repair plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall, painting, and mechanical issues.
  • Replace lighting fixtures, bulbs, outlets, switches, locks, and hardware as needed.
  • Repair and maintain doors, windows, cabinets, flooring, and office furnishings.
  • Conduct minor renovations, construction projects, and facility upgrades.
  • Develop and implement scheduled preventative maintenance activities.
  • Conduct regular inspections of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and safety systems.
  • Monitor facility equipment to identify repair needs before failures occur.
  • Maintain maintenance logs, inspection reports, and repair records.
  • Maintain building exteriors, parking areas, sidewalks, and landscaping.
  • Perform snow removal, ice mitigation, and seasonal grounds maintenance.
  • Ensure safe access to facilities for clients, staff, and visitors.
  • Coordinate waste disposal and recycling services.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections and address identified hazards.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Assist with fire safety inspections and emergency preparedness activities.
  • Maintain Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and proper storage of maintenance materials.
  • Assist with obtaining quotes and scheduling vendors and contractors.
  • Monitor contractors work to ensure quality, timeliness, and compliance with facility requirements.
  • Assist with inventory management for maintenance supplies and equipment.
  • Assist with room setup and breakdown for meetings, trainings, community events, and cultural activities.
  • Support transportation and delivery as assigned.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff and leadership.
  • Participate in staff meetings and organizational trainings.
  • Support organizational events and community activities as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission of NUIHC.
