Calgary Alternative Support Services (CASS) recognizes its employees as its greatest asset and seeks to recruit and mentor human service professionals committed to disability advocacy and community engagement. This posting is for three (3) relief positions in the Calgary area, closing on August 24, 2026. The Calgary Alternative Residential Services (CARS) program assists individuals with developmental disabilities to become more independent through skill acquisition, empowerment, and full inclusion in society. The program focuses on 'person-centered planning' to help individuals identify support areas and personal goals. The CARS General Relief Worker is crucial in supporting clients to build empowerment, make positive decisions, become part of their community, and develop stability in daily activities. This role involves establishing professional boundaries, providing guidance on emotional support, daily living skills, and community resource engagement based on client needs and supervisor direction.

Responsibilities

  • Establish respectful and professional boundaries while developing positive working relationships with clients.
  • Assist clients in the development and monitoring of goals and objectives as instructed by the Residential Relief Supervisor and/or the Community Support Coordinator.
  • Support individuals in specifically identified areas to live independently or increase independence in the community, including daily living skills, community inclusion, recreation and leisure activities, and management of health-related matters as directed by the client coordinator.
  • Establish and maintain a positive professional working relationship with client guardians and other client supports where applicable.
  • Understand and adhere to CASS Policies & Procedures and program specific expectations.
  • Check email communications at the beginning of every shift.
  • Complete client and agency specific paperwork in a timely fashion, including monthly timesheets, monthly expenses, Hazard Reports, Staff Incident & Near Miss Reports, and Client Incident Reports.
  • Actively participate in the CASS Health & Safety program and adhere to Health & Safety policies.
  • Maintain valid certification in all core training/employment requirements and any additional training assigned based on client support needs.
  • Model and demonstrate CASS values in all interactions.
  • Demonstrate respect and collaboration with all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate an ability and willingness to give and receive honest, balanced feedback.
