About The Position

VPI Quality Windows, a commercial division of JELD-WEN, Inc., is seeking a General Production - Laminate Days to join their manufacturing team. This entry-level position focuses on performing general production and line duties in the lamination department, emphasizing safety, quality, reliability, and productivity. The role involves learning the basic lamination process, including infeeding and outfeeding of lamination equipment, and bundling/packaging of vinyl lineals (finished goods).

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Stable work history.
  • Preferred 2 – 3 years of manufacturing experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • Proven problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment with a diverse workforce.
  • Ability to perform several tasks concurrently with ease and professionalism.
  • Consistent physical activity throughout the shift, including lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying materials weighing up to 50 lbs independently and up to 100 lbs with team assistance.
  • Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours per day on hard surfaces.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, twisting, and climbing may be required.
  • Ability to read and interpret production paperwork and labels.
  • Ability to work in hot, humid environments.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in using metrology instruments and recording inspection data.
  • Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area.
  • Overtime may be required, sometimes on short notice.
  • Comfortable working with both manual and powered tools commonly used in manufacturing and assembly environments.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general production/line duties as directed in the lamination department.
  • Infeed and outfeed of lamination equipment.
  • Bundle and package vinyl lineals (finished goods).
  • Prepare vinyl material for loading into lamination equipment (unbundling).
  • Load laminated vinyl in appropriate racking.
  • Laminate vinyl lineal for use in the production of windows & doors.
  • Supply VPI with stock for production.
  • Check the quality of products and materials according to AAMA Standards, regulatory agencies, and VPI Quality Standards.
  • Actively support and participate in the company’s safety and health program.
  • Learn all General Production Lamination roles as needed to support production needs daily.
  • Understand the products used and how to locate and stage them to maximize productivity.
  • Follow basic verbal and written instructions from leads and supervisors.
  • Perform infeed and outfeed duties, loading and unloading lamination equipment.
  • Perform all associate IQC (Quality Checks) specific to each role.
  • Assist other team members by gathering materials, moving units, changing machines over, and loading/unloading products.
  • Assist co-workers in analyzing and correcting problems encountered in job assignments to perform work according to standard operating procedures.
  • Follow documented Standard Work within their work cell/assigned area and flex to different positions to support production output.
  • Perform quality checks, finish products, and assist in loading trucks (depending on assigned area).
  • Work/stand for full shifts and perform all duties as required for the General Production role.
  • Perform housekeeping duties, including cleaning restrooms.
  • Meet daily production rates while maintaining quality standards for raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Supervisor or Manager.
