About The Position

This position is responsible for entry-level non-skilled general labor while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures. This position could work in any area of the Fresh Processing including the DSI, Debone, Deli lines, and Evisceration. The role also involves troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all equipment and company assets while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures. This includes monitoring equipment during production, making necessary repairs or adjustments, documenting corrections, performing preventive maintenance, rebuilding equipment, assisting with new equipment installation, and performing maintenance throughout the facility. Manual tasks include greasing, changing oil, and cleaning plant equipment. The role requires monitoring equipment and computer boards, troubleshooting mechanical problems using schematics and blueprints, and potentially working other shifts. Adherence to safety rules like Lockout/Tagout and compliance with OSHA standards are mandatory. Close collaboration with other maintenance personnel is expected, as is working with fragile devices requiring precise attention. All other duties as requested by the supervisor will also be part of the responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Must provide government identification number for verification of previous Tyson employment history.
  • Must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

  • Capable of moving equipment, machinery, etc., in excess of 40 pounds when needed.
  • Must be able to work on and inspect equipment, which may involve bending, turning, stooping, twisting, and climbing.

  • Must be able to tolerate climates ranging from very cold to very hot and from very wet to very dry.
  • Must be able to communicate and get along well with others.

  • Must be able to walk, stand or sit for the duration of the shift.
  • Must be able to complete mandatory online training.
  • Must be willing to work in damp, cold, or hot environments.

Responsibilities

  • Push, pull, carry, and/or lift up to 50 pounds for some positions.
  • Work in damp, cold, or hot environments.
  • Reach above shoulder level.
  • Stand 8-10 hours a day on hard surfaces.
  • Perform repetitive motion.
  • Climb up and down stairs to get to and from the work areas.
  • Wear PPE, frocks, gloves, ear protection (plugs or muffs), hair net and beard guard.
  • Use of a knife and or scissors to bone out or trim pieces of product.
  • Use of powered equipment such as saws or skinner machines.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair all equipment and company assets.
  • Monitor equipment during production and make any necessary repairs or adjustments.
  • Document any corrections required.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on weekends.
  • Rebuild equipment as required.
  • Assist with installation of new equipment.
  • Assist with maintenance throughout the entire facility as required.
