About The Position

This position is a hybrid role within Atrium Health Levine Children’s, the largest Children’s health system between Atlanta and Washington, DC. The role involves working within both the Virtual Primary Care (VPC) and Extended Care (EC) platforms. In the VPC role, Advanced Practice Clinicians (APCs) are supported by a physician team and may provide in-office visits as coverage. Services offered include nutrition counseling, parent education, virtual house calls, chronic disease management, and behavioral health consultation. The EC component provides in-person after-hours care on evenings and weekends. APCs will transition from VPC to providing shared in-person care on Friday evenings, every other Saturday, and Sunday. The weekend position involves working on the VPC platform during the day and transitioning to the Extended Care site from 5p-9p for in-person visits on Friday. Saturday and Sunday work will alternate between the VPC platform remotely and the Extended Care in-person location, offering a mix of virtual/remote and direct patient care. The Extended Care location operates from 5-9 pm M-F and 8a-8p on Sat and Sun. This position is located in the Charlotte Market only.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience in pediatric primary care
  • Patients seen in person at the Shelby, NC location
  • Must have or be eligible for a DEA license.
  • Approved to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the state one works.
  • Eligible for prescriptive authority application through the Board of Nursing or Medical Board in SC required.
  • BLS for Healthcare Provider from AHA required with expiration date greater than 90 days from date of beginning practice.
  • Demonstrates appropriate critical thinking, interpersonal skills, and the ability to prioritize and concentrate.
  • Nurse Practitioner Master's Degree or Doctorate of Nursing Practice required.
  • License to practice as a Registered Nurse required.
  • Certification in the area of practice from a nationally recognized certifying body required.

Nice To Haves

  • ACNP, AGACNP, AGNP, PNP, or PNP-AC board certification preferred based population served.

Responsibilities

  • Performs initial and periodic medical history, physical examinations, and daily assessments.
  • Records findings of examinations, assessments and plan of care.
  • Performs minor office-based medical and/or surgical procedures.
  • Writes appropriate prescriptions and administers medications.
  • Orders and interprets daily laboratory and radiology examinations.
  • Determines treatment plan for patient.
  • Documents all patient encounters, records observations, interventions, and actions in a medically appropriate manner on the patient's medical record.
  • Acts as a patient advocate for the population served.
  • Attends, participates and contributes to group/practice meetings and development of policies and procedures when requested.
