About The Position

The General Operator II is responsible for performing basic set-ups, operating production machines, and accurately measuring products to meet company targets and standards. This role requires the ability to set up and operate secondary production machines, including but not limited to Drill, Milling, Trim, Tapping, Crimping, Vision, Stamping, Marking, Deburr, Manual Punch Press, and Auto Assembly. The General Operator II must maintain a required level of competency for production machines, as assessed by skill evaluations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • 1 – 4 years of related industrial manufacturing experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints or other job specifications.
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills and departmental applications: SPC & Shop Floor System.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Ability to add and subtract six-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s.
  • Ability to perform calculations using units of measurement, weight, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to comprehend detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to use eye-hand coordination, repetitive hand movement, and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to bend, reach to shoulder level, and lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 30 pounds.
  • Close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Normal/average hearing range.
  • Must wear personal safety equipment such as safety glasses, hearing protection, or proper footwear PPE in specified areas.

Responsibilities

  • Performs basic set-ups and tooling changes and operates secondary production machines after JSA training.
  • Understands and performs Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, SPC, and special requirements for machines such as Drill, Milling, Trim, Tapping, Crimping, Vision, Stamping, Marking, Deburr, Sorting, and Assembly.
  • Recognizes and remedies minor machine or tooling malfunctions, making minor adjustments as necessary, and reporting major discrepancies to leads or supervisors.
  • Observes machine operation to detect workpiece defects or malfunctions.
  • Reads blueprints or Manufacturing Orders (MOs) to understand product specifications, including dimensions, tolerances, quantity, and tooling instructions.
  • Inspects products using calipers, micrometers, comparators, scales, templates, or other measuring instruments to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Records information such as first article inspection, in-process inspection, number of products tested, meter readings, and production dates/times; performs SPC as required.
  • Recognizes cosmetic non-conformances (e.g., burrs, galling, cracked edges, slug marks, dimensional changes) based on company specifications and initiates action to prevent them by stopping the machine and notifying the Lead person or Supervisor.
  • Operates the Shop Floor System and records MO information.
  • Performs minor machine maintenance, including changing worn accessories, oiling and cleaning machines, dies, or parts, and adding coolant.
  • Reports all malfunctioning equipment and non-conforming parts to Leads or Supervisors.
  • Performs record keeping, data entry, housekeeping, and follows safety regulations.
  • Assists less-skilled operators in developing skills and set-ups.
  • Complies with all Federal, Local, and State government rules and regulations, LISI Aerospace policies, and HSE Procedures.
  • Follows all 5S department procedures, including keeping floors clean, returning tools to proper locations, organizing part pans, and performing other housekeeping duties.
  • Attends all provided training and adheres to all HSE procedures, policies, and plans, conforming to reporting requirements and safe operating procedures.
  • Immediately reports any known or suspected nonconformance for company procedures or legal requirements to management.
  • Seeks opportunities to improve HSE performance by establishing objectives and targets, measuring progress, and reporting results.
  • Participates in waste elimination initiatives related to manufacturing production, such as recycling opportunities.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Benefits

  • Pay Range: $23-28/Hr.
