About The Position

The General Operator I is to operate production machines and properly measure products to achieve all company targets and standards. This role involves performing machine operations in drilling, milling, trimming, tapping, crimping, vision inspection, stamping, marking, deburring, manual punch press operation, EDM, and auto/hand assembly. The General Operator I must maintain the expected level of competency for production machines in accordance with skill assessments.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • 0 – 2 years experience and/or training in manufacturing environment procedures.
  • Basic computer systems knowledge.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Ability to add and subtract six digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.
  • Ability to perform calculations using units of measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to comprehend detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to use eye-hand coordination, repetitive hand movement, and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • Ability to bend, reach to shoulder level, and lift, carry, push and/or pull up to 30 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Hearing level within normal/average range.
  • Must wear personal safety equipment such as safety glasses, hearing protection, or proper footwear PPE in specified areas.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints or other job specifications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operates secondary production machines under supervision and after JSA training.
  • Comprehends and follows SOP (Standard Operating Procedures), work instructions, and/or special requirements.
  • Observes machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunctions.
  • Reads blueprints or Manufacturing Orders (MO) for product specifications such as dimensions, tolerances, number of parts to be formed, and tooling instructions.
  • Inspects product using calipers, micrometers, scales, templates, or other measuring instruments to verify conformance to blueprint or manufacturing instructions.
  • Records information such as in-process inspection, number of products tested, meter readings, and dates and times of work piece production.
  • Recognizes cosmetic non-conformances based on Company specifications and initiates action to prevent non-conformance.
  • Operates Shop Floor System and records MO information.
  • Performs minor machine maintenance such as changing worn accessories, oiling and cleaning machines, and adding coolant.
  • Reports all malfunctioning equipment and non-conformance issues to department Lead or immediate Supervisors.
  • Performs record keeping, data entry, housekeeping, and follows safety regulations.
  • Complies with Federal, Local, and State government regulations, LISI Aerospace policies, and HSE Procedures.
  • Follows all 5S department procedures including keeping floors clean, returning tools to proper locations, organizing part pans, and performing other housekeeping duties.
  • Attends all training provided and adheres to all HSE procedures, policies, and plans.
  • Immediately reports any known or suspected nonconformance for all company procedures or legal requirements to management.
  • Seeks opportunities to improve HSE performance by establishing objectives and targets, measuring progress, and reporting results.
  • Works within waste elimination initiatives, specifically related to manufacturing production, such as recycling opportunities.
  • Performs a variety of other related duties as assigned.

Benefits

  • Compensation: $20.00/hr.
