The General Merchandise Team Leader role is focused on leading a team to ensure a consistent and positive guest experience. Team members in this role are responsible for ensuring product availability, accurate pricing and signing, and maintaining the sales floor and backroom. They also execute inbound, outbound, and fulfillment responsibilities. The position involves leading a team of hourly employees, coaching them, and holding them accountable for delivering on Target's guest experience commitments and operational standards. The role requires assessing performance metrics, identifying opportunities for improvement, and aligning the team on execution strategies. It also involves managing workload, merchandising, restocking, and price changes, while educating the team on the impact of operational procedures on inventory management and store profitability. The General Merchandise Team Leader also assists in developing plans to resolve process gaps and may lead fulfillment work. They collaborate with other teams to ensure the store is guest-ready and stay informed about relevant trends to educate their team. Additionally, the role involves evaluating candidates, developing a guest-centric team, identifying future leaders, and supporting guest services such as cashiering and digital fulfillment. A strong emphasis is placed on demonstrating inclusivity, ethical conduct, safety culture, and merchandise protection. In some instances, the Team Leader may assume Store-Level Leadership on Duty responsibilities.
