About The Position

This position is responsible for the maintenance of the facility and repair of manufacturing equipment while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures. Applicants will be considered for a General Mechanic opening in the Maintenance Department for executing maintenance and repair work associated with CMMS work orders, including repairing line equipment (mixers, grinders, clipper stuffers, slicers, labelers, multivacs, etc.). Must be willing and able to pre-check and set up equipment; perform cutting, welding, electrical work, and other duties as assigned. Must be willing and able to tolerate temperatures of 35 degrees or below for the entire shift. Must be willing and able to lift 40-60 pounds to shoulder height repeatedly. Must be willing and able to walk and stand on a cement floor for the shift duration. Must be willing and able to follow both verbal and written instructions. Must be willing and able to have basic math skills and computer knowledge. Must be willing and able to read and comprehend product specifications sheets, assess equipment, and demonstrate mechanical knowledge. Must be willing and able to complete weekly, monthly, and semi-annual inspections throughout the facility, including but not limited to: Fire Extinguishers, Fire Sprinkler system, Eye wash / shower Stations, Emergency Lighting, Alarm for access doors, Rail Inspections. Must be willing and able to do lighting repairs throughout the facility, repair/replace copper pipes (soldering copper), pipe threading of various sizes and types of material, and repairs to toilets, sinks, and water heaters. Must be willing and able to drive forklifts, scissor lifts, other aerial lifts / boom lifts, telescoping lifts, etc.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years hand-on industrial mechanical experience including electrical, pneumatics, hydraulics, plumbing, welding, and HVAC. Or any combination of work experience, education and/or training.
  • Must be able to lift up to 60lbs.
  • Must have basic math and computer skills.
  • Must be available to work all shifts, including weekends, and available for overtime.
  • Must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be willing and able to tolerate temperatures of 35 degrees or below for entire shift.
