About The Position

Homestead Country Club has been Kansas City's favorite neighborhood club since 1954 — nine private acres of tennis, pickleball, platform tennis, aquatics, fitness, and dining in the heart of Prairie Village. We're looking for a General Manager to lead the next chapter: a hands-on, member-first operator who will own the P&L, build a first-class leadership team, and keep Homestead the place families never want to leave. Founded in 1954 on nine acres donated by legendary Kansas City developer J.C. Nichols, Homestead has spent 70 years as the club generations of Prairie Village families have called their "home away from home." Since 2017, Homestead has been part of Hulsing Enterprises, a family-owned, growth-minded hospitality company that has invested heavily in the property ever since. The club boasts 9 outdoor + 4 indoor tennis courts, 4 outdoor + 2 indoor pickleball courts (more coming), 4 platform tennis courts, an Olympic-size pool, a fully expanded health & wellness/fitness center, full-service dining, bar, and event spaces. A 2018–2022 renovation added a new covered tennis building, expanded fitness space, and a growing pickleball program. The culture is casual, laid-back, and unmistakably family-first.

Requirements

• 3–5+ years of experience as a General Manager or equivalent P&L leader at a country club, racquet club, or comparable full-service hospitality property.
• Proven track record owning a property-level P&L and leading a full department-head team.
• Membership sales, dues, and retention experience strongly preferred — you know how to grow and retain a membership base, not just fill rooms.
• A genuine, member-first hospitality mindset — equally comfortable courtside with members as in a budget review with ownership.
• Availability for a seven-day club operation, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• CCM (Certified Club Manager) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own the full P&L across membership dues, initiation fees, food & beverage, events, and recreational programming — delivering the financial results ownership expects.
• Lead and develop the department-head team: Director of Racquet Sports, Aquatics Director, F&B Manager, Events Manager, and Facilities Manager — building a team that reflects the Homestead standard of genuine hospitality.
• Set the tone for the member experience — be visibly present on the courts, by the pool, and in the dining room, especially during peak periods and signature club events.
• Drive membership growth and retention, working closely with the membership and sales team to keep Homestead the club families choose and stay with.
• Keep the property inspection-ready — courts, pool, fitness center, F&B outlets, and grounds — and manage capital projects that protect the property's long-term value.
• Ensure full regulatory and safety compliance across health, aquatics/pool safety, employment law, and Hulsing operating standards.
• Serve as the face of Homestead to membership, the Prairie Village community, and Hulsing ownership.
