About The Position
Van Leeuwen Ice Cream is hiring a full-time General Manager to oversee its Seaport location. The role is responsible for the overall operation of the assigned store or stores, including people operations, sales, inventory, and the guest service experience. The General Manager will work closely with the founding team as the company continues its growth and will lead the store in a fast-paced food-retail environment.
Requirements
- ServSafe Manager Food Handlers license required.
- Prior experience managing a team required.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Dexterity to prepare and serve all menu items in accordance with established service and build-out standards.
- Able to regularly push, pull, or lift 50 pounds.
- Able to stand for extended periods regularly.
- Able to regularly walk up and down stairs.
- Able to stand, bend, and reach for prolonged periods.
- Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Nice To Haves
- Two or more years of experience in a food retail management role preferred.
- Experience operating food retail spaces, including multi-unit or high-volume single-unit locations.
- Experience building and leading teams.
- Enthusiasm for ice cream.
Responsibilities
- Schedule employees and assign workstations to meet store operational requirements.
- Recruit, select, orient, and train employees.
- Coach, counsel, discipline, and terminate employees; plan, monitor, and appraise employee performance.
- Achieve financial objectives by monitoring sales targets, maintaining budgets, and forecasting labor.
- Uphold excellent customer-service standards.
- Ensure merchandise and services are available by communicating with vendors and maintaining inventory.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment for customers and employees.
- Introduce new menu items to team members and communicate changes throughout the retail space.
- Process weekly payroll accurately and on time.
- Order and maintain uniforms and ensure employees meet uniform standards.
- Address maintenance issues.
