About The Position

DH Pace Company, Inc. is seeking a General Manager for its well-established and growing business in Tempe, AZ. This role involves leading operations that provide customers with new and replacement doors, as well as fixing and repairing existing doors in buildings. The ideal candidate will have strong operational experience and product knowledge within the commercial door industry. The General Manager will assess current operations, implement procedural and process changes, foster team building, increase sales and profitability, and ensure a high level of customer service. This position oversees existing customer projects and aims to increase revenues for Service work, Aftermarket, and New Construction for both DH Pace Company, Inc. and Overhead Door Company of Central Arizona.

Requirements

  • Minimum seven (7) years’ experience managing personnel, P&L, budgets, projects, materials ordering, sales, and customer service in a leadership position.
  • Commercial manual, automatic door, and hardware industry management applicants with strong operational experience and product knowledge are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Service provider industry experience such as HVAC or another construction/building materials business with products that are sold to end users, installed and/or serviced at customer sites will also be considered.
  • Proficient with Windows based programs and ERP/CRM systems and a good understanding/use of Excel.
  • Analytical skills to evaluate operational data, processes, procedures, financial results, survey feedback, and other metrics to determine cause/effect relationships and the impact of changes.
  • Ability for technical applications and mechanical systems.
  • Good driving record and valid driver’s license required.
  • Must enjoy a high level of activity in a hands-on environment with an emphasis on meeting deadlines and providing unmatched customer service.
  • Travel on occasion to customer job sites and management meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve financial objectives by preparing an annual budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions with full P&L responsibility.
  • Make recommendations for operational and sales procedural/process improvement changes and implement them to increase customer satisfaction, profit margins, and return on sales.
  • Leverage operations/process improvement expertise to support personnel, build trust, and become a resource for operational assistance, advice, guidance, and career mentoring.
  • Assist with employee/job scheduling and technical/mechanical troubleshooting and problem resolution.
  • Perform regular audits to ensure staff adhere to company best practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Promote a safe work culture through active participation in the safety program and managing compliance, identifying improvement opportunities, and reinforcing safe work practices.
  • Utilize division financial reports (daily, weekly, and monthly) and metrics for management of daily operations.
  • Hire, train, and develop new employees; improve individual performance through daily coaching, monthly P&L and Scorecard reviews, and yearly performance reviews.
  • Effectively lead meetings, set performance expectations, and hold employees accountable.
  • Maintain professional communication with personnel and customers, and timely resolve personnel matters and escalated customer concerns.
