About The Position

The General Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of a high-volume grocery distribution center, ensuring operational excellence in safety, quality, service, productivity, talent development, and financial performance. This role drives strategic initiatives, fosters a culture of accountability and continuous improvement, and ensures the facility consistently delivers outstanding results for customers, associates, and the business.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field (e.g., Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Financial Management, Production/Operations Management); and 3 years experience in a senior management role within an operations/distribution/logistics/retail environment, supervising, evaluating, mentoring, and developing managers/supervisors; managing workload; and participating in the hiring and promotion of employees facility-wide
  • OR 2 years experience as a Walmart Logistics Assistant General Manager supervising, evaluating, mentoring, and developing associates; managing associate workload; and participating in the hiring and promotion of associates
  • OR 5 years experience in a senior management role as an operations/distribution/logistics/retail environment, supervising, evaluating, mentoring, and developing managers/supervisors; managing workload; and participating in the hiring and promotion of employees facility-wide

Responsibilities

  • Develop, execute, and oversee the facility’s business plan to achieve operational goals related to safety, quality, service, productivity, and financial performance.
  • Identify and implement strategic improvements that enhance efficiency, optimize resources, and support long-term growth.
  • Lead complex distribution operations while maintaining alignment with organizational priorities and customer expectations.
  • Monitor performance metrics and operational trends to drive data-informed decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Direct the financial performance of the distribution center by managing budgets, controlling expenses, and maximizing asset utilization.
  • Review, analyze, and communicate business performance reports to identify opportunities and risks.
  • Ensure effective allocation of labor, equipment, and operational resources to meet business demands and service level expectations.
  • Approve and oversee workforce planning strategies to ensure staffing levels support current and future operational requirements.
  • Build and develop high-performing leadership teams through coaching, mentoring, succession planning, and performance management.
  • Lead hiring, promotion, development, and talent retention efforts to strengthen organizational capability.
  • Foster a culture of engagement, accountability, recognition, and growth.
  • Champion a culture of safety by ensuring adherence to company, regulatory, and logistics standards.
  • Maintain facility-wide compliance with quality, food safety, operational, and environmental requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and sustain policies, procedures, training programs, and supporting documentation to drive consistent execution.
  • Conduct regular reviews of operational processes to mitigate risk and ensure continuous compliance.
  • Build strong partnerships with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to support operational success.
  • Resolve complex associate, customer, and supplier concerns by conducting thorough investigations and making sound, fact-based decisions.
  • Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization to align priorities and drive results.
