About The Position

Forrest Logistics is a full-service transportation company specializing in end-to-end logistics solutions. We are seeking team-oriented professionals who value accountability, safety, and continuous improvement in a dynamic operating environment. The General Manager is a dual authority role responsible for overseeing a pricing team as well as managing the financial and strategic aspects of freight and logistics pricing. This role is responsible for analyzing market data, carrier costs, and customer needs which in turn requires strong analytical, negotiation and communication skills. The understanding of port drayage operations and logistics is essential.

Requirements

  • Advanced proficiency in data interpretation, financial modeling, and using statistical tools to drive actionable insights.
  • Mastery of Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and advanced data tools such as Excel and Tableau.
  • Ability to articulate with data, translating complex pricing analytics for non-technical stakeholders and senior leadership.
  • Strong skills in securing favorable terms with customers and gaining buy-in from internal stakeholders for new pricing initiatives.
  • In-depth knowledge of logistics dynamics, including drayage, intermodal, and international container shipping.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business related field preferred
  • Minimum 3 years experience of progressive pricing management, revenue management and port logistics operation
  • Possess a thorough understanding of the domestic and international transportation industry
  • Ability to build relationships with customers and carriers
  • Excellent presentation and selling skills with exceptional attention to detail

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement high-level pricing strategies to maximize revenue and profitability across all transportation modes.
  • Manage the end-to-end proposal lifecycle, including responding to complex RFPs/RFQs and gathering feedback on market rates.
  • Conduct regular research into competitor pricing, industry trends, and global freight market fluctuations to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Lead negotiations with carriers and customers to secure "Best in Class" rates.
  • Partner with sales, finance, IT and operations teams to align pricing models with service capabilities and corporate financial goals.
  • Analyze achieved costs vs. profitability and adjust standard pricing matrices or custom client models as needed.
