About The Position

Enswell is an all-day restaurant serving New American comfort food, featuring a full café program, a comprehensive cocktail menu, and a New Liberty Distillery bottle shop. Owned and operated by Rival Bros Coffee Roasters, Enswell combines coffee expertise and hospitality with culinary excellence in a stunning yet approachable environment. The General Manager is the senior operational leader, responsible for the restaurant's overall success through exceptional hospitality, operational excellence, financial performance, and people leadership. Reporting to the Director of Operations and Ownership, the General Manager provides strategic direction for all front- and back-of-house operations, leading and developing the management team. This role sets the standard for service, culture, and execution, ensuring alignment across departments. Responsibilities include developing leaders, driving accountability, overseeing financial and operational performance, managing budgets, labor, costs, compliance, and key business metrics, while ensuring consistent execution of company standards and an exceptional guest experience. The General Manager remains actively engaged in daily operations, providing hands-on support, reporting to ownership, resolving complex issues, and fostering a collaborative, high-performing team culture, ultimately accountable for delivering outstanding experiences for both guests and employees while driving long-term success and growth.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressive restaurant leadership experience, including experience as a General Manager or comparable senior leadership role within a full-service restaurant.
  • Demonstrated success leading and developing high-performing management teams.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing P&L performance, labor, budgeting, inventory, and operating costs.
  • Proven ability to drive operational excellence while balancing guest experience and business performance.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to analyze business performance and make strategic operational decisions.
  • Knowledge of POS systems, restaurant management software, reservation software, and labor management systems.
  • Strong understanding of restaurant health, safety, labor, and alcohol service regulations.
  • ServSafe Manager Certification and RAMP Certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong knowledge of products sold in the retail bottle shop, café, restaurant, bar, and retail coffee program.
  • Demonstrate the flexibility to support the restaurant during evenings, weekends, holidays, and other business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership, development, and accountability for the management team by recruiting, mentoring, coaching, evaluating, and developing leaders while fostering a culture of collaboration, engagement, hospitality, and continuous improvement.
  • Champions an exceptional guest experience by establishing and maintaining hospitality standards, ensuring consistent service execution, guiding guest recovery efforts, and creating an environment that exceeds guest expectations.
  • Directs overall restaurant operations by aligning front- and back-of-house teams, driving operational consistency, maintaining standard operating procedures, and promoting effective cross-functional collaboration.
  • Has ultimate accountability for the restaurant's financial performance through oversight of sales, profitability, labor management, budgeting, cost controls, inventory performance, and achievement of business objectives.
  • Ensures compliance with all health, safety, licensing, alcohol service, regulatory, and company policies while maintaining a safe, efficient, and well-managed operation.
  • Drives strategic initiatives that strengthen the Enswell brand, increase revenue, support private events and catering, build community relationships, and position the restaurant for long-term success.
  • Leads through collaboration, accountability, and empowerment by setting clear expectations, developing managers, removing barriers, and ensuring the Assistant General Manager and FOH Floor Manager are equipped to successfully execute day-to-day operations while maintaining ultimate accountability for the restaurant's overall performance.
