About The Position

We are seeking an experienced and driven Hotel General Manager for the Fairfield Inn & Suites in Baraboo, WI. This role is ideal for a hospitality leader focused on delivering outstanding customer experiences and valuing work-life balance in a friendly, casual work environment. Requirements

  • Prior hospitality leadership experience.
  • Familiarity with Marriott and Opera/Power of M.
  • Ability to lead and develop a team.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Enjoyment of networking.
  • Interest in sales/marketing.
  • Availability to understand and be flexible with business/staffing demands of the hotel.
  • Ability to learn and understand the hotel’s property management system.
  • Good communication skills to effectively and professionally deal with hotel guests, general public, and hotel employees.
  • Ability to effectively handle guest and/or employee issues, concerns, or conflicts.
  • Ability to establish and build successful rapport with guests and hotel employees.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate employees to work together as a team and foster empowerment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time.
  • Subject to successful completion of a background check.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, including revenue, payroll, and expense tracking.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures outlined in the employee handbook and management company guidelines.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of brand, S&L Hospitality, and ownership information.
  • Ensure the management team follows all company policies and procedures, including recruiting, hiring, training, coaching, counseling, disciplining employees, performance evaluations, safety standards, and staff development.
  • Participate in developing annual operational and capital budget plans with guidance from the DOO and accounting teams.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of P&L statements and the ability to implement impactful strategies.
  • Participate in weekly revenue management meetings (brand or S&L Hospitality operations/sales team).
  • Review STR reports to monitor hotel performance and competitive market sets.
  • Drive revenue growth through effective sales and marketing initiatives.
  • Ensure department managers focus on achieving financial and operational goals by monitoring and controlling labor and operational expenses.
  • Respond to audits to ensure continuous improvement and conduct regular internal audits according to brand and S&L Hospitality standards.
  • Assist in the procurement of operating supplies and equipment, and contract with third-party vendors.
  • Focus on achieving all brand and/or company guest satisfaction and quality of product goals.
  • Teach and train staff on basic guest resolution techniques.
  • Review brand guest satisfaction surveys and scores.
  • Ensure the hotel complies with all local, state, and federal licensing, permitting, and reporting requirements, as well as all brand standards and policies.
  • Follow all safety and security guidelines and practices.
  • Participate in required safety training programs.
  • Oversee routine maintenance and promptly address property issues.
  • Maintain hotel facilities to ensure a welcoming and safe environment.
  • Schedule and conduct regular property meetings (one-on-ones, departmental, all team members) to address issues, concerns, team development, training, and goal setting.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and exceptional service.
  • Enhance job knowledge through educational opportunities, professional reading, networking, and professional organizations.
  • Perform any other duties, responsibilities, or special assignments as requested.
