About The Position

Alice’s Restaurant – A Caring Café, part of ARC of the Treasure Coast in Stuart, FL, is seeking an experienced General Manager & Head Chef to lead its daytime restaurant operations and grow its catering and community events business. This is a hands-on, chef-driven leadership role for a culinary professional skilled in both kitchen operations and overall restaurant management. Alice’s Restaurant combines excellent food with a mission to train and empower individuals with disabilities in a real-world food service environment. The role is responsible for the full operation of the restaurant, including kitchen leadership, front-of-house management, staff development, budgeting, and performance oversight. The General Manager & Head Chef will also be instrumental in developing and expanding catering services, offering opportunities for financial and professional growth. This is a unique opportunity for a seasoned restaurant leader seeking daytime hours, creative input, operational authority, a stable mission-driven organization, and the chance to build something meaningful.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in restaurant leadership (General Manager, Executive Chef, or similar role)
  • Strong culinary background with hands-on kitchen leadership experience
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, food cost, labor cost, and inventory
  • Experience training and leading diverse teams
  • ServSafe certification (or ability to obtain)
  • Ability to pass a Level II background screening

  • Interest in growing catering or expanded food service programs preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead all daily restaurant operations with a focus on quality, service, and efficiency
  • Serve as hands-on culinary leader ensuring consistent food quality and presentation
  • Manage hiring, training, scheduling, and performance of restaurant staff
  • Oversee food, labor, and operating budgets; manage inventory and vendor ordering
  • Develop menus, specials, and seasonal offerings
  • Lead the development and expansion of catering and special event services
  • Coach and mentor staff and trainees in a supportive, inclusive environment
  • Foster strong teamwork, accountability, and positive workplace culture
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, sanitation, and ServSafe standards
