Sodexo’s Campus Segment is seeking an experienced and dynamic General Manager 4 to lead dining operations at Hampshire College , an independent liberal arts institution and member of the Five College consortium. Located in Amherst, Massachusetts , Hampshire College provides residential undergraduate education to roughly 900 students , supported through full and partial meal plans, two retail dining operations, year-round catering, and summer conference services. As the senior-most leader on campus, the General Manager will set the strategic direction for all dining programs, drive operational excellence, and cultivate strong partnerships with the campus community. You will oversee resident dining, retail, and catering operations while ensuring alignment with Sodexo’s mission, values, and contractual commitments. This role requires a forward-thinking, people-focused leader with a passion for innovation, service, and building community through food. Incentives RELOCATION ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE!

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a General Manager or senior-level leader in higher education dining , hospitality , or large-scale food service operations.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, motivate, and develop high-performing teams.
  • Demonstrated financial acumen, including full P&L management and proven success driving operational efficiency.
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and client partnership skills.
  • A passion for culinary and service innovation, customer experience, and community building.
  • Commitment to diversity, sustainability, and creating a welcoming environment for all.
  • Minimum Education Requirement - Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum Management Experience – 5 years
  • Minimum Functional Experience – 5 years

Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of campus dining operations, including resident dining, retail, catering, and summer conference services.
  • Drive operational excellence and innovation in food quality, service delivery, and guest experience.
  • Develop, mentor, and inspire a diverse team of managers and frontline staff to achieve high performance and strong engagement.
  • Oversee financial performance, including P&L accountability, forecasting, labor management, and cost controls.
  • Maintain exceptional client relations; serve as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to campus leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with Sodexo standards, regulatory requirements, and all food safety and sanitation protocols.
  • Collaborate with campus partners to design and implement dining programs that enhance student engagement, participation, and retention.
  • Champion a positive, inclusive, and growth-oriented workplace culture.
