About The Position

The General Maintenance Worker performs general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings requiring practical skill and knowledge in trades such as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work. This role involves a variety of duties including replacing electrical components, patching walls, repairing plumbing fixtures, painting structures, repairing floors and sidewalks, hanging doors, replacing windows, and performing general maintenance on equipment. The position is excluded from formal apprenticeship programs, skilled craft roles requiring proficiency, and simple maintenance tasks not requiring trade knowledge. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) required.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years’ work experience in carpentry and painting required.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondences, and memos, labels and numbers.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Basic ability to operate a computer using Microsoft Office software.
  • Ability to learn Bear Tracks Mail handling software.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and divide.
  • Must be able to pass criminal and drug screening processes to meet current network and/or government legibility requirements that apply or become applicable to this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience providing maintenance and repairs of buildings preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting duties for Facility Maintenance, Grounds, Inventory/Warehouse, Loading Dock Freight and Material Handling.
  • Performing basic rough and finish carpentry work and preparing surfaces for paint, enamel, lacquer, varnish, or stain, or repairing wall coverings.
  • Assisting with repair on doors, locks, hinges, ceiling tiles and other facility maintenance.
  • Performing as Primary Backup for Mail Handling Operations.
  • Responding in a timely manner to scheduled/unscheduled tenant requests for a variety of maintenance issues.
  • Acting as an overall Site Maintenance support specialist.
  • Reporting any damaged racks, faulty equipment, or other safety hazards to the supervisor.
  • Maintaining a clean, neat, and orderly work area.
  • Performing or assisting in warehouse, grounds, and equipment maintenance as required.
  • Assisting in all Freight and Material Handling as needed.
  • Complying and coordinating with all Dock master policies and procedures.
  • Complying with OSHA guidelines.
  • Participating in all other training required by funding source(s) and/or the Corporation such as Human Rights training.
  • Performing other responsibilities as assigned.
