About The Position

The General Maintenance Worker performs general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings requiring practical skill and knowledge in trades such as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work. This role involves a variety of duties including replacing electrical components, patching walls, repairing plumbing fixtures, painting structures, repairing concrete and flooring, and performing general equipment maintenance. The position also supports facility maintenance, groundskeeping, inventory management, and loading dock operations. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) required.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years’ work experience in carpentry and painting required.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondences, and memos, labels and numbers.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Basic ability to operate a computer using Microsoft Office software.
  • Ability to learn Bear Tracks Mail handling software.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and divide.
  • Must be able to pass criminal and drug screening processes to meet current network and/or government legibility requirements.

  • Prior experience providing maintenance and repairs of buildings preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings.
  • Replaces electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors.
  • Patches minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings.
  • Repairs or replaces sinks, water coolers, and toilets.
  • Paints structures and equipment.
  • Repairs or replaces concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks.
  • Replaces damaged paneling and floor tiles.
  • Hangs doors and installs door locks.
  • Replaces broken window panes.
  • Performs general maintenance on equipment and machinery.
  • Supports duties for Facility Maintenance, Grounds, Inventory/Warehouse, Loading Dock Freight and Material Handling.
  • Performs basic rough and finish carpentry work.
  • Prepares surfaces for paint, enamel, lacquer, varnish, or stain, or repairs wall coverings.
  • Assists with repair on doors, locks, hinges, ceiling tiles and other facility maintenance.
  • Performs as Primary Backup for Mail Handling Operations.
  • Responds in a timely manner to scheduled/unscheduled tenant requests for maintenance issues.
  • Acts as an overall Site Maintenance support specialist.
  • Reports damaged racks, faulty equipment, or other safety hazards to supervisor.
  • Maintains a clean, neat, orderly work area.
  • May perform or assist in warehouse, grounds and equipment maintenance.
  • Assists in all Freight and Material Handling as needed.
  • Complies and coordinates with all Dock master policies and procedures.
  • Complies with OSHA guidelines.
  • Participates in all other training required by funding source(s) and/or the Corporation.
  • Performs other responsibilities as assigned.
