About The Position

The General Maintenance Worker position at the City of Tucson's Parks and Recreation Department performs essential outdoor maintenance tasks for city parks and landscaped areas. Work is performed under the supervision of the Parks Maintenance Coordinator. This position does not supervise.

Requirements

  • Some High School education
  • Under one (1) year of directly related experience
  • Valid and unrestricted Arizona Class D Driver License

Responsibilities

  • Removes litter and debris from landscaped areas, playgrounds, and public facilities.
  • Cleans, disinfects, and services parks restrooms and ramadas.
  • Assists with weeding, general landscaping, and other groundskeeping projects.
  • Prepares and maintains sports fields by performing routine grounds maintenance tasks such as mowing lawns and filling holes.
  • Operates and maintains groundskeeping equipment, including mowers, trimmers, and leaf blowers.
  • Assists in the installation, painting, and repair of playground equipment, ramadas, barbecue pits, tables, benches, signs, fences, small buildings, and other structures.
  • Performs manual construction tasks to repair park's infrastructure, such as benches, ramadas, and fencing.
  • Assists in moving and setting up booths, bleachers, tables, benches, and other equipment for events.
  • Completes additional tasks as required to support park maintenance and operations.
  • Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned.
