General Maintenance Worker (Hill Air Force Base)
About The Position
The General Maintenance Worker performs general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings requiring practical skill and knowledge (but not proficiency) in such trades as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work. This role involves a variety of duties including replacing electrical components, patching walls, repairing plumbing fixtures, painting structures, maintaining concrete surfaces, replacing damaged paneling and floor tiles, hanging doors, installing locks, replacing window panes, and performing general maintenance on equipment and machinery. Craft workers in formal apprenticeship programs, skilled craft workers requiring proficiency, and those performing simple maintenance duties are excluded from this role.
Requirements
- Practical skill and knowledge in trades such as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work (but not proficiency).
- Ability to replace electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors.
- Ability to use plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings.
- Ability to repair or replace sinks, water coolers, and toilets.
- Ability to paint structures and equipment.
- Ability to repair or replace concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks.
- Ability to replace damaged paneling and floor tiles.
- Ability to hang doors and install door locks.
- Ability to replace broken window panes.
- Ability to perform general maintenance on equipment and machinery.
