About The Position

The General Maintenance Worker in the Roads & Grounds Shop performs general maintenance, preventative maintenance, repair, installation, and upkeep of structures and equipment using practical skills and knowledge across a variety of trades. The position is located at TPS FTLW in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, and is full time. The worker may assist in several Roads & Grounds Department areas and must drive company vehicles on a federal installation. Some on-call, evening, weekend, and holiday work is required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license, which must be maintained.
• Obtain and maintain a military gate pass.
• Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, managers, and staff members.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including carrying equipment and tools up and down steps and occasionally lifting more than 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge and practical skills in grounds maintenance, tree trimming/removal, fuel systems maintenance support, sheet metal assistance, vehicle mechanic assistance, and/or welding shop assistance.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance, preventative maintenance, repairs, installations, and upkeep of structures and equipment.
• Assist with grounds maintenance and tree trimming or removal.
• Assist with fuel systems maintenance, the sheet metal shop, vehicle mechanic shop, and/or welding shop.
• Perform SNAIR operations.
• Help in other sections of the Roads & Grounds Department as needed.
• Drive company vehicles on a federal installation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
