About The Position

Tessera is seeking an experienced General Maintenance Worker III (GM-3). The General Maintenance Worker III performs skilled to highly skilled work in the general maintenance and upkeep of buildings, plumbing, electrical, structural, grounds, and equipment. The role involves a variety of tasks including painting, carpentry, siding repairs/replacement, glass replacement, minor plumbing, masonry, concrete repairs, and minor electrical work. Responsibilities also include cleaning roof drains and gutters, replacing electrical components, patching walls and ceilings, repairing fixtures, and caulking. The position requires direct communication with customers and supervisors regarding repairs, needs, and inquiries. The worker will use electronic devices to manage work, make diagnoses, suggest solutions, and communicate with schedulers about repair status and completion dates.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED.
  • Minimum 3 years of closely related experience.
  • Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods of time, occasionally in adverse weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
  • Ability to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time.
  • Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time.
  • A valid state driver’s license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera’s insurance.
  • Access to a federal military installation requires a REAL ID-compliant driver's license or an acceptable alternative, such as a U.S. passport or military ID.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access.
  • A background check and E-Verify will be conducted for this position.
  • Satisfactory proof of U.S. citizenship must be furnished.

  • Knowledge of painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work preferred.
  • Ability to learn a wide variety of building and ground maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Painting, carpentry, siding repairs/replacement, glass replacement in doors and windows, minor plumbing, masonry, concrete repairs, and minor electrical work.
  • Clean roof drains and gutters.
  • Replace electrical receptacles and switches, fixtures, and bathroom exhaust fan motors.
  • Use plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls or ceilings.
  • Repair or replace sinks, water coolers, and toilets.
  • Caulking plumbing kitchen fixtures.
  • Communicate and interact directly with the customer and supervisors, informing the customer of unexpected or additional repairs and determining customer needs.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and complaints.
  • Ensure completed work meets quality control standards.
  • Use portable handheld electronic devices to manage work.
  • Make difficult diagnoses and suggest solutions and repairs to customers and supervisors.
  • Communicate with the scheduler to update the status of repairs and estimate completion dates.
