About The Position

Amentum is seeking a General Maintenance Technician for their client site in Durham, NC. The successful candidate will have outstanding skills and will be committed to working with others to deliver best in class, unparalleled excellence in customer service and satisfaction. This role is responsible for daily support activities, including performing a variety of repairs and tasks such as replacing floor tiles, carpet, ceiling tiles, light bulbs, plumbing, painting, patching, and drywall repairs. The technician will also perform minor inspections of general building conditions, assist trades personnel, and conduct preventative maintenance on assigned equipment, pressure washing, sheet metal work, and restroom tile repairs. The role involves operating various tools and equipment for woodwork, furniture repairs, and flooring replacement/repairs, and ensuring the efficient and safe use of hand tools. Responsibilities include responding to work orders, providing service and feedback to customers, and assuring compliance with codes, regulations, and industry standards. The technician will also be responsible for cleaning worksites, hauling debris and trash, cleaning tools and equipment, and proper storage of tools, materials, and equipment. Additionally, the role involves inspecting and identifying facilities equipment in need of repair, performing miscellaneous repairs, maintenance construction, general installation, and preventative maintenance work. Regular inspection rounds of buildings, plumbing, electrical fixtures, appliances, and major equipment are required, checking for appearance, cleanliness, structural cracks, excessive wear, and faulty parts. The technician must understand company policies and enforce safety regulations, including following proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis and lockout/tagout procedures, and utilizing PPE as required. Compliance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) is necessary, and all work will be scheduled and completed from a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Other duties may be assigned by management.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3 years’ maintenance experience in one of the following trades or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience: General Construction, Painting, General Maintenance
  • Ability to obtain a security access badge at our client’s location.
  • Ability to read and understand information contained in a variety of documents or displayed on a computer screen.
  • Demonstrated fluency in computer use including the full Microsoft product line.
  • Ability to obtain an appropriate driver's license issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles, as requested.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
  • US Citizenship or Permanent Residency is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
  • This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization.
  • Regularly lift to 50 lbs
  • Regularly climb ladders, steps, and scaffolding
  • Repetitive motions: bend, stoop, squat, kneel, stretch, reach, wrist movement
  • Walk extensively throughout the plant during shift
  • Work at an accelerated pace in emergency conditions
  • Ability to differentiate colors pertaining to wire color-coding
  • Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical degree preferred.
  • Experience working in a GMP or similar regulated environment such as hospitals, biomedical or pharmaceutical campuses
  • Ability to read and understand repair manuals, specifications, drawings, and schematic diagrams.
  • Experience working with heavy industrial or manufacturing plant steam systems, centrifugal chillers, air handling units, turbines, boilers, cooling towers, air compressors, air dryers, heat exchangers, exhaust systems, pneumatic controls, and building automation control systems.
  • Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS); EAMS experience is a plus.
  • Experience interpreting a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of repairs and tasks including but not limited to replacing floor tiles, carpet, ceiling tiles, light bulbs, plumbing, painting, patching, and drywall repairs.
  • Perform minor inspections of general building conditions under the direction of a supervisor or a skilled trades’ person.
  • Directly assist trades personnel as required.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on assigned equipment, pressure washing, sheet metal work, and restroom tile repairs.
  • Operate various tools and equipment to perform woodwork, furniture repairs, and flooring replacement/repairs.
  • Efficient and safe use of hand tools.

  • Clean worksites, including hauling debris and trash to the dumpster, cleaning tools and equipment, and ensuring tools, materials, and equipment are stored properly.
