General Maintenance Technician

About The Position

This role involves maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing various facility components including overhead doors, gates, loading dock equipment, and mechanical systems. The technician will perform preventive maintenance, replace parts, analyze and resolve work problems, and ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies. The position requires operating various equipment, maintaining schedules with flexibility, and escorting subcontractors. Qualified candidates must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test and may require a valid driver's license. Sponsorship for U.S. work authorization is not provided. The role may require various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules, and obtaining a security access badge at client locations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
  • Five years of maintenance experience in one of the following trades or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience: Industrial HVAC/ Industrial Mechanical Machine Repair, or Automotive Repair.
  • Ability to work in an aerial lift or scissor lift at heights up to 30 feet or higher.
  • Must be willing to work overtime when required.
  • May be required to work holidays and weekends.
  • Work schedules can change based on critical business needs.
  • Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.
  • Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained.
  • Demonstrated fluency in computer use including the full Microsoft product line.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of all types and kinds of hand and power tools, air measuring instruments, various refrigeration equipment, various electrical meters, meggers, and shop equipment.
  • Experience working in a CMMS environment.
  • Maximo experience is a plus.
  • Welding certification.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair overhead/roll up doors, gates, and gate arms.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair loading dock levelers, dock plates, and dock restraints.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and perform required preventive maintenance actions such as lubrication, cleaning, filter changes, etc.
  • Replace motors, bearings, sheaves, shafts, etc.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on mechanical systems control and operating systems as scheduled in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Communicate non-compliance concerns to ensure corrective actions have taken place.
  • Respond and provide service and feedback to the customer on all work orders while assuring compliance to codes, regulations and industry standards.
  • Recommend measures to improve maintenance methods and equipment performance.
  • Analyze and resolve work problems or assist workers in solving work problems.
  • Understand company policies and enforce safety regulations.
  • Safely perform functions of the position including following proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis and lockout/tagout procedures and wearing PPE as required.
  • Operate a variety of equipment such as hand tools, laptop computers and diagnostic hardware to perform work.
  • Maintain a strict schedule to be successful in the assignment yet demonstrate flexibility in the day-to-day activities and scheduling for the benefit of the customer.
  • Escort subcontractors for facilities maintenance activities as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor.
