About The Position

Florida Institute of Technology is a growing, top-ranked university with more than 2 million square feet of facilities supporting a dynamic campus community. The Facilities General Maintenance Technician performs a variety of general skilled and unskilled work, including but not limited to basic plumbing, basic HVAC troubleshooting, basic electrical troubleshooting, light bulb changes, light carpentry, basic painting skills, basic drywall repair, pool maintenance, and assisting with grounds work. Staff members will receive service ticket work or be directed by a supervisor on what tasks are to be accomplished daily.

• Willingness to provide emergency preparedness and support as directed

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of general skilled and unskilled maintenance, construction, and repairs on buildings and equipment.
• Answer service tickets as assigned, work from written and oral instructions.
• Utilize the service ticket system on the iPad to track tasks and document completed work.
• Work independently on assigned tasks or assist other trades as directed. Must demonstrate flexibility in daily assignments and be able to switch tasks as directed to support department needs.
• Comply with safety directives, complete directed training, and use tools in a safe manner.
• Participate in the Facilities on-call program.
• Emergency preparedness and support as directed.
• Additional duties as assigned.
