General Maintenance Technician I/II (Facilities)
About The Position
Performs skilled work involving general maintenance and repair of municipal buildings. Work involves duties which require the application of journey level mechanical skills as well as basic carpentry, plumbing, and electrical skills. Primary duties include maintenance and repair of heating and air conditioning systems, replacing and repairing plumbing and electrical fixtures, repairing carpet, and performing other general maintenance tasks. Work is performed under general supervision and is reviewed through periodic inspections, direct observation, and condition of facilities.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate
- Valid Florida Driver's License required
- General Maintenance Technician I: One (1) year experience in general building maintenance or one of the trades: Electrical, Heating and Air-Conditioning, or Plumbing; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- General Maintenance Technician II: Three (3) years experience in general building maintenance or one of the trades; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- General Maintenance Technician II: Must possess Journey Level competency card in one of the following trades Electrical, Heating and Air-Conditioning, or Plumbing.
Nice To Haves
- Journey Level competency card in one of the following trades Electrical, Heating and Air-Conditioning, or Plumbing preferred (for Technician I)
- Training in the maintenance and repair of heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning systems desired
