About The Position

Amentum is seeking a General Maintenance Technician IV to join their operations & maintenance team. This role provides advanced expertise in responding to work orders, troubleshooting, and performing preventive maintenance on facility systems within a large industrial environment, including clean rooms. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated with strong organizational and time management skills. Responsibilities include diagnosing and troubleshooting industrial facility equipment and systems such as HVAC, compressors, chillers, robotics, pumps, bearings, blowers, fans, and gearboxes. The role involves performing all aspects of preventive and corrective electrical/mechanical maintenance on industrial systems including HVAC, pneumatics, hydraulics, conveyor systems, filtration systems, and coolant systems. The technician must identify and correct safety issues, perform independent equipment evaluations, and conduct general maintenance. Safety is paramount, requiring adherence to guidelines like job hazard analysis, lockout/tagout procedures, and proper PPE usage. The role also involves understanding and enforcing company policies and safety regulations. A strong electrical skill set, including experience with control systems and 480V systems, is required, along with prior experience with air compressors, air dryers, and HVAC systems in a production setting. The technician will diagnose, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair HVAC machinery, cooling systems, pneumatic and/or hydraulic systems, conveyors, and overhead cranes. Performing scheduled preventive maintenance using a CMMS, troubleshooting heat exchange equipment, welding, fabricating, and performing plumbing and hydraulic hose repairs are also key duties. The role requires safe operation of forklifts, hoists, and cranes, utilizing safe rigging and lifting techniques. Responding to customer work orders, providing service and feedback, and ensuring compliance with codes and standards are essential. The technician will recommend improvements for maintenance methods and equipment performance, analyze and resolve work problems, and operate various diagnostic and testing instruments for energy efficiency solutions. Operation of hand tools, laptops, and diagnostic hardware is expected. Maintaining a strict schedule while demonstrating flexibility is crucial for customer benefit. Other duties may be assigned by management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
  • Five years of maintenance experience in one of the following trades, or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience: Industrial HVAC/ Industrial Mechanical Machine Repair, or Automotive Repair.
  • Ability to work in an aerial lift or scissor lift at heights up to 30 feet or higher.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to regularly climb extension ladders, roof ladder, stepladders, and stairs at least 10 times during shift.
  • Flexibility to bend/stoop, squat repetitive during shift.
  • Ability to regularly kneel repetitive for shift.
  • Ability to move in a 90-degree fashion on a repetitive basis for shift.
  • Ability to stretch/reach on a repetitive basis for shift.
  • Ability to walk extensively throughout the plant during shift.
  • Use of a Company/Client approved utility knife.
  • Ability to differentiate colors pertaining to wire color-coding.
  • Repetitive wrist movement for some tasks.
  • Ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress.
  • Ability to walk extensively throughout facilities during a workday.
  • Ability to climb extension ladders, roof ladder, stepladders, and stairs as needed during a workday.
  • Flexibility to bend/stoop, squat, kneel, reach/stretch, and move in a 90-degree fashion during workday.
  • Ability to read and understand information contained in a variety of documents or displayed on a computer screen.
  • Ability to use a variety of office equipment and to operate a computer keyboard to access data bases, to send/receive messages and to prepare documents.
  • Ability to attend meetings throughout the site and potentially travel to other Amentum, customer and/or vendor locations in the area, as well as some air travel to more distant locations.
  • Ability to communicate with others on the telephone and in one-on-one or group discussions, meetings and presentations.
  • Demonstrated fluency in computer use including the full Microsoft product line.
  • Some moving of light to medium weight materials into desks, filing cabinets and other storage locations.
  • Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.
  • Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained.
  • Strong electrical skill set, including experience with control systems and 480V systems.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to work orders, troubleshoot, and provide preventive maintenance on facility systems in a large industrial environment including clean rooms.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot industrial facility equipment and systems such as HVAC, Compressors, Chillers, robotics, pumps, bearings, blowers, fans, gearboxes, air handlers and other equipment as required.
  • Perform all aspects of preventive and corrective electrical / mechanical maintenance on all facility related industrial systems including, but not limited to: HVAC, pneumatics, hydraulics, conveyor systems, filtration systems, and coolant systems.
  • Identify and correct any safety- related issues and perform independent equipment evaluations to identify potential equipment failures.
  • Perform general maintenance of equipment.
  • Safely perform functions of the position including following proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis and lockout/tagout procedures and wearing PPE as required.
  • Understands company policies and enforces safety regulations.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair HVAC machinery, cooling systems, pneumatic and/or hydraulic systems; conveyors; overhead cranes.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and perform required preventative maintenance actions such as lubrication, cleaning, filter changes, alignments, etc.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on process/production equipment as scheduled in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Troubleshoot and repair heat exchange equipment.
  • Weld and fabricate.
  • Perform plumbing and hydraulic hose repairs.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical issues.
  • Safely operate fork-lifts, hoists and cranes.
  • Utilize safe rigging and lifting techniques.
  • Respond and provide service and feedback to the customer on all work orders while assuring compliance to codes, regulations and industry standards.
  • Recommend measures to improve maintenance methods and equipment performance.
  • Analyze and resolve work problems or assist workers in solving work problems.
  • Operate various measuring, diagnostic and testing instruments to help provide energy efficiency solutions.
  • Operate a variety of equipment such as hand tools, laptop computers and diagnostic hardware to perform work.
  • Maintain a strict schedule in order to be successful in the assignment yet demonstrates flexibility in the day-to-day activities and scheduling for the benefit of the customer.
