About The Position

Amentum is seeking a General Maintenance Technician III to join our operations & maintenance team. Typical work schedule will vary based on business demand. The General Maintenance Technician III (GMT III) performs general maintenance and repair work in office and industrial facility environments. This role supports day‑to‑day facility operations by responding to work orders, completing preventive maintenance, and addressing basic building repair needs while following all safety and site requirements. The GMT III may work independently and assist with guiding lower‑level technicians.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
  • Three years' experience of general maintenance or facilities experience.
  • Basic knowledge of building maintenance, repair work, and hand tools.
  • Ability to use a computer for daily work tasks
  • Ability to work in an aerial lift or scissor lift at heights up to 30 feet or higher
  • Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.
  • Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained.
  • Demonstrated fluency in computer use including the full Microsoft product line.
  • Requires some moving of light to medium weight materials into desks, filing cabinets and other storage locations.
  • Requires the ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress.

Nice To Haves

  • Trade school or vocational training related to maintenance or facilities.
  • Experience working in office, industrial, or manufacturing facilities.
  • Equipment or lift certifications are a plus.
  • Familiarity with facilities equipment descriptors such as HVAC, plumbing, and electrical.
  • Experience working in purchasing or subcontracting in a manufacturing, maintenance, or a related service field.
  • Experience with CMMS.
  • Experience overseeing storeroom operations.
  • Experience streamlining and improving inventory practices.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general maintenance and repair of building systems including: Doors, locks, hardware, walls, ceilings, and basic carpentry
  • Restroom fixtures, drains, and minor plumbing repairs
  • Interior and exterior lighting (lamp replacement, ballasts, switches, outlets)
  • Respond to service requests and work orders in a timely and professional manner.
  • Complete preventive maintenance tasks as assigned and properly document completed work.
  • Enter and update work order information using Maximo.
  • Use Microsoft Excel for basic data entry, tracking, and documentation.
  • Use Microsoft Teams and Outlook for daily communication, updates, and coordination.
  • Identify and report facility or safety issues to supervision.
  • Perform basic electrical troubleshooting on standard building circuits per site policy.
  • Assist with small facility projects and repairs.
  • Maintain tools, materials, and work areas in a safe and organized condition.
  • Follow all safety requirements including PPE, lockout/tagout, and job hazard analysis as required.
  • Provide basic guidance and assistance to GMT I and GMT II technicians.
  • Support vendor escorts and contractor coordination as needed.
  • Participate in on‑call rotation or after‑hours support if required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Manager.
