About The Position

As a General Maintenance Technician III, you will operate under limited supervision, performing repairs and maintenance in plant or office facilities, or on machines and equipment. This typically involves work in various maintenance trades such as carpentry, plumbing, painting, machine and equipment repair, electrical, sheet metal fabrication, and welding. Responsibilities include conducting routine, periodic, or special inspections to prevent breakdowns, using hand and power tools for testing, inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing, and interpreting blueprints, sketches, layouts, wiring diagrams, drawings, and specifications. The position may also involve training or checking the work of other facilities staff and providing support and guidance to volunteers, all while complying with standard operating procedures and applicable regulations.

Requirements

  • High School or equivalent required.
  • May require a trade license.
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
  • Related experience includes skill and knowledge of painting, HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, masonry and electrical work is required.
  • Previous truck and/or bus driving experience is desirable.
  • Must have basic writing and communication skills.
  • May be required to have basic computer skills.
  • May have on-call duties.
  • Ability to work on a team.
  • A current valid driver’s license and good driving record is required.
  • Ability to travel by driving vehicle to other locations.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair organization's facilities and properties, including correcting minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and structural problems.
  • Paint structures and equipment as needed.
  • Document installation and repairs as required by regulatory agencies.
  • Repair appliances and equipment.
  • Operate and service boilers, chillers, motors, fans, pumps and related mechanical equipment.
  • Estimate time and material costs of various projects.
  • Requisition new supplies and equipment.
  • Review maintenance records to identify recurring deficiencies; plan and implement corrective maintenance or repairs.
  • Troubleshoot and repair all building HVAC related equipment (may be required).
  • Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Drive vehicles to other locations.
