The General Maintenance Technician II provides general maintenance of the hospital, including repairs and additions to wall, floor, and ceiling systems. They are responsible for maintaining all doors, locks, and closers, and for making, installing, or contracting for more complex signs. The role involves checking and prioritizing work orders, communicating with nursing personnel for scheduling repairs in patient areas, and performing general maintenance tasks. This includes painting, maintaining records of paint usage, and ensuring compliance with hospital signage policy, ADA, and other codes. The technician also receives materials, verifies quality and quantity, and submits recommendations for repairs and replacements. They serve as a liaison with the General Maintenance Foreman, ensuring plant machinery operates within design specifications and monitoring systems via local indicators and building automation. Maintaining assigned equipment, possessing knowledge of machines and repair procedures, and understanding emergency response procedures are also key aspects of this role. The technician will monitor systems, document alarms, repair equipment, and perform assigned maintenance duties.
