About The Position

Amentum is seeking a General Maintenance Technician I to join their team in East Peoria, IL. The typical work schedule is 2nd shift, from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM, with hours potentially varying based on business demand. Weekend hours may be scheduled to support the company's 24/7 operation. The role involves facility maintenance, including preventative maintenance and repairs to pumps, ventilation, and other facility equipment. The technician will analyze maintenance repair requests, identify problems, and implement solutions, as well as repair and inspect facility fixtures. Responsibilities also include monitoring utility and facility industrial equipment such as air compressors, boilers, performing water testing, oil sampling, and collecting data. Other tasks may be assigned by management, and overtime may be required. This position may require working holidays and weekends, along with other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • One or Two years of preferred experience performing mechanical maintenance in an industrial environment or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Requires a valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to obtain a security access badge at our client’s location
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to regularly climb extension ladders, roof ladder, stepladders, and stairs at least 10 times during shift
  • Flexibility to bend/stoop, squat repetitive during shift
  • Ability to regularly kneel repetitive for shift
  • Ability to move in a 90-degree fashion on a repetitive basis for shift
  • Ability to stretch/reach on a repetitive basis for shift
  • Ability to walk extensively throughout the plant during shift
  • Requires the use of a Company/Client approved utility knife
  • Ability to differentiate colors pertaining to wire color-coding
  • Some tasks will require repetitive wrist movement
  • Ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress
  • Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, bump caps and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed
  • Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained
  • Effective communication between Co-workers and Management
  • Desire to learn, enhance knowledge and skills
  • Must possess the ability to make decisions and communicate well
  • Ability to identify and correct any safety-related issues and perform independent equipment evaluations to identify potential equipment failures
  • Ability to work in an aerial lift or scissor lift at heights up to 30 feet or higher

Nice To Haves

  • Mechanical and/or Electrical skills are preferred
  • Preferred ability to diagnose and troubleshoot Facility and Utility equipment in an industrial environment
