About The Position

Performs semi-skilled manual work in building, grounds, park, landscaping, tree-care, and turf-maintenance activities under general supervision. The role is responsible for cleaning parks and building restrooms, performing general building maintenance and repairs, conducting safety inspections, and maintaining grounds. Work may include operating vehicles, mowers, cleaning machines, and other related equipment, as well as setting up chairs and tables and assisting with cleanup. The position requires physical labor, sometimes outdoors in adverse weather conditions. The scheduled shift is Wednesday through Sunday, 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. A high school diploma or acceptable equivalency diploma and one year of heavy manual labor experience are required; janitorial experience is recommended. A valid Florida driver's license with a good driving record is required. A comparable combination of education, training, and experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications.

Requirements

High school graduation or an acceptable equivalency diploma.
One year of experience performing heavy manual labor.
Valid Florida driver's license with a good driving record.
Knowledge of routine manual cleaning and facility upkeep.
Knowledge of landscaping and turf maintenance, or landscape maintenance, tree care, or turf installation.
Knowledge of tools and equipment used for related work.
Ability to perform heavy manual labor, including under adverse weather conditions.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and complete daily worksheets or maintain records.
Skill in operating and performing preventative maintenance on equipment and tools related to the position.
Physical strength and agility commensurate with the demands of the position.
Ability to lift and carry 45 pounds or more; walk, stand, bend, stoop, kneel, drive, and operate equipment.
Ability to respond positively to supervision and direction, follow workplace policies, report promptly, and interact courteously and respectfully with the public and colleagues.
A comparable combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may substitute for the minimum qualifications.

Responsibilities

Maintain buildings, grounds, and parks, including cleaning, scraping, painting, and litter control.
Clean parks and building restrooms; sweep, mop, scrub, wax, and polish floors and furniture.
Perform general building maintenance, repairs, safety inspections, and grounds work such as mowing and weeding.
Set up chairs and tables for activities and assist with cleanup.
Operate cleaning machines, buffers, vacuum cleaners, vehicles, mowers, and other related equipment.
Perform preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
Prepare daily written and oral reports and complete daily worksheets or records.
May spray grounds with insecticides and herbicides and install turf on fields, parks, and other grounds.
May use tree-trimming tools, chainsaws, clippers, and bucket trucks.
Perform other job-related duties as required.
