As a General Maintenance Engineer, you’ll play a key role in keeping our historic hotel running smoothly, safely, and efficiently. You’ll work hands-on with a wide range of systems, including HVAC, electrical, lighting, kitchen equipment, and more, helping ensure an exceptional experience for every guest. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety in their day, takes pride in solving problems, and appreciates working in a unique environment rather than a standard, cookie-cutter property.

Requirements

  • Experience in general maintenance or a skilled trade (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, etc.)
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently
  • Comfortable using tools, equipment, and basic computer systems
  • A team-oriented mindset and commitment to quality work
  • Ability to lift, move, and work in a physically active role
  • Must be able to stand, bend, climb, and move throughout the property
  • Ability to lift up to 100 lbs and push/pull up to 300 lbs
  • Availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed

Responsibilities

  • Perform repairs and preventative maintenance across guest rooms, public spaces, and back-of-house areas
  • Maintain and troubleshoot systems including HVAC, electrical, lighting, plumbing, kitchen/refrigeration equipment, and more
  • Help ensure all equipment is ready and operational for daily use
  • Use schematics, wiring diagrams, and manuals to complete repairs effectively
  • Accurately complete work orders and document all work performed
  • Follow all safety guidelines, brand standards, and local regulations
  • Identify and report unsafe conditions or malfunctioning equipment
  • Maintain tools, supplies, and inventory with care and efficiency
  • Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests or concerns
  • Work closely with other departments to support overall hotel operations
  • Contribute to a positive, respectful, team-first environment
  • Greet guests warmly and engage with professionalism
  • Anticipate needs and take ownership of requests
  • Help create a welcoming, well-maintained environment that guests remember
