About The Position

The General Maintenance Engineer maintains hotel equipment, systems, and building components, including mechanical and electrical systems, pumps, HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, locks, furniture, paint, wall coverings, tile, and other equipment. The role also supports hotel repairs, maintenance projects, equipment delivery and setup, and timely, personable responses to customer requests.

The position requires evening and weekend availability, with flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. Previous hotel engineering experience is preferred, as is comparable maintenance experience in settings such as an apartment complex or office building.

• Previous experience as a hotel engineer is preferred, or comparable maintenance experience at an apartment complex, office building, or similar establishment.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to be yourself, lead yourself, and make it count.

Responsibilities

• Build, repair, and paint parts of the hotel.
• Install and replace lighting fixtures and bulbs.
• Clean carpets and rugs.
• Visually inspect and test machinery and equipment.
• Listen for unusual machine or equipment sounds, discuss operating variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers, and help diagnose problems or repair machines.
• Dismantle defective machines and equipment and install new or repaired parts.
• Repair and maintain the physical structure of the establishment.
• Fabricate and repair furniture and fixtures.
• Attend scheduled training classes and meetings.
• Paint corridors, hotel rooms, and lobby areas as needed.
• Transport heavy boxes and packages within the hotel for maintenance and repairs.
• Assist with delivery and setup of new equipment, including televisions, mattresses, tables, and chairs.
• Communicate with the Maintenance Supervisor about assigned projects.
• Respond to customer requests in a timely and personable manner.
