About The Position

To repair and maintain the physical structure of the resort and provide technical and administrative support to the Maintenance Dept. This role involves performing minor and routine painting, plumbing, electrical wiring, and other related maintenance activities using hand tools. It also includes preventative maintenance for guest rooms, ice machines, refrigerators, kitchen equipment, laundry equipment, HVAC, guest rooms, meeting rooms, swimming pool, and hot tub. The position requires plumbing repair, laundry equipment repairs, preventative maintenance on exhaust fans and supply, and monitoring energy conservation. The engineer will also replace air conditioner filters, repair vacuum cleaners and other small equipment, and respond to alarms to determine their location and cause, reporting findings to the Front Desk. The role requires understanding and responding to guest needs professionally, reporting suspicious occurrences and hazardous conditions, and maintaining cleanliness of work areas. Safe work habits are essential to prevent injury. The position also involves cross-training and performing other tasks as directed.

Requirements

High school or equivalent education required.
English fluency required.
Must have three to five years of experience in general building trades, with a technical building maintenance (commercial) background preferred.
Ability to provide and maintain a valid driver's license as the position may require the operation of motorized and electric vehicles.
Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by Azul Hospitality, from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position.
Upon employment, all staff is required to fully comply with Azul Hospitality rules and regulations for the safe and effective operation of the hotels facilities.
Staff members who violate hotel rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, staff members may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.
In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.

Nice To Haves

Technical building maintenance (commercial) background preferred.
Licensed in a trade preferred (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, etc.).

Responsibilities

Perform minor and routine painting, plumbing, electrical wiring, and other related maintenance activities, using hand tools.
Perform preventative maintenance for guest rooms, including vinyl repair, touch-up paint, minor furniture repair, tub caulking, and tile repairs.
Perform preventative maintenance for ice machines, refrigerators, kitchen equipment, laundry equipment, HVAC, guest rooms, meeting rooms, the swimming pool, and hot tub.
Perform plumbing repair, laundry equipment repairs, and preventative maintenance on all exhaust fans and supply.
Monitor energy conservation.
Replace air conditioner filters.
Repair vacuum cleaners and any other small equipment upon request.
Immediately follow up on any alarms to determine the exact location and cause, determine emergency status, and report to the Front Desk with findings.
Understand and respond to all guest needs and requests in a timely and professional manner.
Immediately report all suspicious occurrences and hazardous conditions.
Always maintain the cleanliness of work areas.
Practice safe work habits at all times, to avoid injury to self and others.
Perform other tasks, including cross-training, as directed.
Notify management concerning the need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment.
Assist with any guest inquiry.
Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures.
Report maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries.
Complete safety training and certifications.
Perform any other duties as requested by direct and indirect supervisors.
