About The Position

The General Maintenance 1 performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks related to preventive maintenance, alterations and repairs of the building and equipment. Repairs general electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems, apparatus and components of commercial machinery and equipment. Performs other duties as needed.

Requirements

• Minimum one year of related experience preferred.
• Able to identify color-coded electrical and mechanical components.
• Able to detect and identify odors characteristic of equipment malfunction.
• Able to sense vibration and surface characteristics that indicate status of equipment functioning.
• Able to move with agility to transport equipment.
• Maintain hand and finger dexterity to perform basic maintenance tasks.
• Follow general safety protocols.
• Able to read and write legibly.
• Able to speak in English with professional quality.
• Able to work professionally with colleagues and other Medical Center employees in a manner that generates mutual respect and a positive working environment.
• Able to work with limited supervision.
• Perform duties while being sensitive to the patient care environment.
• Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others.
• Able to work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure.
• Able to lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate.
