About The Position

Installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe and electrical systems in commercial or industrial establishments. This role involves visually inspecting and testing machinery, listening for unusual sounds to detect malfunctions, and discussing machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problems or repair machines. The position also includes dismantling defective machines, installing new or repaired parts, cleaning and lubricating machinery parts, and installing and repairing electrical apparatus, transformers, wiring, and components of machinery and equipment. Additionally, it involves laying out, assembling, installing, and maintaining pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, as well as repairing and replacing gauges, valves, and pressure regulators. The role may also include installing, programming, or repairing automated machinery and equipment such as robots or programmable controllers, and operating machine tools like lathes, grinders, drills, and milling machines to repair or fabricate parts, jigs, fixtures, and tools. The use of cutting torches or welding equipment to join metal parts is also part of the duties.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
Basic knowledge of computers and the ability to input data into a computer.

Responsibilities

Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathe, grinder, drill, and milling machine to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs and fixtures, and tools.
Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
