About The Position

The General Machinist will set up and operate conventional and CNC machines to produce high precision components with the highest level of efficiency, cost, and quality to ensure the demands of our production schedule are delivered on time to all customers - both internal and external. This role involves accurately setting up and running a variety of machines to manufacture fixtures and tooling according to drawings, production documentation, and technical specifications, aiming for first-time quality. The position also requires active participation and promotion of continuous improvement of processes, methods, and tooling manufacturing to maintain or improve the company's competitive position.

Requirements

Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program or a relevant trade school program.
Must be able to read and interpret Engineering & Manufacturing drawings/instructions with a solid knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
Good understanding of G-Code programming language and probing routines (Renishaw Probes).
Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing guidelines, standard work, 5S principles.
Strong Problem solving and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication skills; both oral and written.

Nice To Haves

General Machinist certification (Red Seal Preferred) or equivalent, with a minimum of 5 years CNC experience.
Experience with Heidenhain & Haas controls.
Master Cam multi axis programming.

Responsibilities

Set up and machine using conventional and CNC machines to cut or grind materials into parts into precise dimensions.
Operate machines including lathes, milling machines, saws, surface and cylindrical grinders, drilling and EDM machines.
Produce high precision components with the highest level of efficiency, cost and quality.
Accurately set up and run a variety of machines to manufacture fixtures and tooling according to drawings, production documentation, and technical specifications.
Actively participate and promote continuous improvement of processes, methods, tooling manufacturing.
