We are seeking a versatile and highly organized General Ledger Accountant to join our workforce. We are seeking a motivated Staff Accountant – General Ledger to join our growing finance team. Reporting to the Controller, this role is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, supporting the monthly close process, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys solving problems, improving processes, and helping build scalable accounting operations in a growing, project-based business.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
  • Experience with monthly close, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, and proficient working with large data sets.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in construction, service, or other project-based industries is preferred.
  • Experience with QuickBooks is preferred.
  • Experience with common cloud-based ERPs (Sage, NetSuite, Accumatica) and experience migrating to those systems is a plus.
  • Familiarity with business intelligence and reporting tools, such as Power BI, is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepaid expenses, prepaid revenue recognition, and other month-end adjustments.
  • Perform monthly bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Support the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
  • Ensure accurate posting of monthly service invoices.
  • Support job cost accounting by ensuring project costs are accurately recorded and reconciled.
  • Assist with sales/use tax and other compliance reporting.
  • Research accounting discrepancies and partner with operations to resolve issues.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and other special projects.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, internal controls, and documentation.
  • Participate in ERP enhancements and other system improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reporting accuracy.
