About The Position

The General Labourer, reporting to the Shift Supervisor, will be involved in the wood operation process at the facility in Prince Albert, SK. This permanent full-time position requires physical strength and stamina to perform various duties within the wood processing facility, including handling wood products, operating machinery, inspecting materials, and maintaining a clean work environment. The role operates on a 4-day work week with 10-hour shifts, Monday through Thursday, and requires flexibility for operational and scheduling needs, including potential overtime and weekend work. Candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada and have their own transportation to the worksite.

Requirements

• A safety conscious attitude
• Able to accurately count and identify various lumber products
• Good hand eye coordination and ability to maintain concentration and focus for long periods
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds or 23 kilograms
• Bending, lifting, and reaching during course of shift
• Must be able to speak, read, and write English
• Must be able to wear hand, eye and ear protection as required
• Must be flexible to accommodate operational and scheduling requirements
• Must have own steel-toed boots
• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada without sponsorship
• Candidates will need their own transportation to travel to and from the work site

Nice To Haves

• Experience working in wood processing or lumber yard
• High school graduation or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Unload, load and separate wood products into industrial machines by maneuvering wood pieces into equipment during production
• Manually guide wood against saws and operate automatic feeding devices to guide cuts
• Manually feed wood products into machines in the peeling and trimming process of wood products
• Inspect and measure wood pieces to mark for cuts and to verify the accuracy of cuts
• Count, sort, and stack finished wood pieces
• Dispose of trash and waste materials as required
• Perform housekeeping duties in work area to ensure a safe and clean work environment
