About The Position

This role involves performing a variety of manual labor tasks on construction sites. The General Laborer will be responsible for reading plans, controlling traffic, signaling equipment operators, working with concrete, digging, positioning structural components, loading and unloading materials, erecting and dismantling scaffolding, and setting up forms for concrete pouring.

Requirements

High School Diploma (or GED / High School Equivalence Certificate)
Able to comprehend documents such as safety rules.
Ability to understand information, ideas, and direction and then be able to perform the task or project discussed.
Ability to ask questions to ensure understanding of given information.
Must be able and willing to work outside in the elements.

Responsibilities

Read plans, instructions, or specifications to determine work activities.
Control traffic passing near, in, or around work zones.
Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, or adjustment of machinery, equipment, or materials.
Smooth or finish freshly poured cement or concrete, using floats, trowels, screeds, or powered cement finishing tools.
Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, or compact and level earth to grade specifications, using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers, or rakes.
Position, join, align, or seal structural components, such as concrete wall sections or pipes.
Load, unload, or identify building materials, machinery, or tools, distributing them to the appropriate locations, according to project plans or specifications.
Erect or dismantle scaffolding, shoring, braces, traffic barricades, ramps, or other temporary structures.
Position or dismantle forms for pouring concrete, using saws, hammers, nails, or bolts.
Mix, pour, or spread concrete, using portable cement mixers.
