Smithfield Foods is seeking motivated individuals to join their team as General Laborers on the 2nd shift. This role involves handling materials and using various tools and machinery in the production of packaged meats and fresh pork products. Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Willing and able to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Willing and able to perform a task requiring continuous/repetitive movement, including grasping, pinching hands, flexing, and extending arms.
  • Willing and able to stand on concrete and/or platforms for up to a 12-hour shift.
  • Willing and able to work around animal blood and/or carcass parts.
  • Willing and able to work with a knife (if trained).
  • Willing and able to work in cold areas (approximately 20-40 degrees) and/or warm areas (over 100 degrees).
  • Willing and able to work in an environment that is wet and humid.
  • Willing and able to wear a hard hat, hearing/eye protection, and steel-toed safety shoes.
  • Willing and able to work in a noisy environment using personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Willing and able to work with sanitation/cleaning chemicals.
  • Willing and able to work around strong smells/odors.
  • Willing and able to climb/move on ladders, steps, stairways, walkways and platforms.
  • Willing and able to bend, stoop, and twist repetitively over the course of an entire shift.
  • Willing and able to walk long distances.
  • Ability to perform repetitive overhead lifting up to 30 lbs.
  • Ability to perform single lifting of heavy objects up to 60 lbs.
  • Ability to lift objects using mechanical assistance.

Responsibilities
