About The Position

This role involves performing general labor tasks, including excavation for structure or cable installation according to contract specifications. The position requires the ability to communicate professionally and may involve implementing Maintenance of Traffic, potentially requiring training and certification. The laborer will operate and learn various hand tools and equipment, work around large construction equipment, near energized electrical equipment, and near traffic in various conditions. There is an opportunity for overtime, and shifts may include nights, weekends, and holidays for extended periods. The role also includes on-call responsibilities as part of a recovery team during emergencies and disasters.

Responsibilities

• Excavates to assist in the installation of structures or cable as required by contract specification.
• Able to professionally communicate.
• May have to implement Maintenance of Traffic, to include flagman operations; may require training and certification.
• Willing to operate/learn to operate various hand tools and equipment to complete the scope of work (various manual digging devices, wrenches, hammers, come-along, jack hammers, drills, chipping guns, ground rod drivers, hand lines, etc.).
• Work around large construction equipment.
• Work near energized electrical equipment or components.
• Work near traffic: interstates, highways, rural and urban conditions.
• Perform work as part of a recovery team during emergencies and disasters and general system failures on an on-call basis.
