About The Position

We are seeking a dependable, organized, and safety-minded General Laborer / Machine Shop Assistant to support day-to-day operations in our manufacturing facility. This is a hands-on position that will assist with preventive maintenance, material handling, equipment upkeep, assembly, cleaning, deliveries, and general machine-shop support. The ideal candidate is reliable, mechanically inclined, willing to learn, and comfortable helping in different areas of the shop as needed. Previous machine-shop experience is helpful but not required. We are willing to train the right person.

Valid driver's license required with the ability to safely operate company vehicles for pickups and deliveries as needed.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Ability to bend, kneel, reach, climb, push, and pull as required.
Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment around machinery, noise, metal chips, oils, lubricants, dust, and varying temperatures.
Ability to wear required PPE, including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves when appropriate, and safety-toe footwear.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous manufacturing, machine-shop, maintenance, warehouse, assembly, or material-handling experience is helpful but not required.
Experience using common hand and power tools is preferred.
Forklift/fork-truck experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Assist maintenance personnel with preventive maintenance (PM) on CNC machines and other shop equipment.
Assist with cleaning, lubricating, and inspecting machinery and equipment.
Perform general machine-shop and facility maintenance.
Empty chip carts and safely handle and dispose of metal chips, scrap, and shop waste.
Maintain clean and organized machines, work areas, aisles, storage areas, and common shop areas.
Keep tools, materials, parts, supplies, and equipment organized and properly stored.
Assist with basic assembly and other production-support activities as needed.
Move, load, unload, and stage raw materials, finished parts, scrap, supplies, and equipment.
Operate a forklift/fork truck after completing required training and receiving authorization.
Drive company vehicles to pick up and deliver parts, materials, supplies, or equipment as needed.
Safely load and secure items for transportation and assist with loading and unloading deliveries.
Safely use common hand tools, power tools, and basic shop equipment.
Assist machinists, maintenance personnel, assemblers, and other departments as needed.
Identify and report equipment problems, leaks, damage, or unsafe conditions.
Follow all safety procedures, work instructions, quality requirements, and company policies.
Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Maintain dependable and punctual attendance.
Perform other duties as assigned based on the needs of the company.
