About The Position

The General Labor position in the Operations Department is a full-time role reporting to the General Manager. The primary purpose of this position is to safely handle, move, locate, relocate, stack, package, repackage, and count product. The company expects all employees to perform in a manner that ensures long-term success, demonstrating flexibility, reliability, a positive attitude, willingness to learn, initiative, and high quality of work. Requirements

  • Ability to learn techniques as job task requirements change.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Must be able to sit, stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Must be able to twist, stoop, squat and reach above shoulder level.
  • Must be able to push, pull, remove and place product in various configurations, involving use of fingers, hands, arms, etc.
  • Ability to work in a non-climate controlled environment.
  • Must have experience and be knowledgeable about Food Safety or willing to receive training in Food Safety.

Responsibilities

  • Safely handle, move, locate, relocate, stack, package, repackage, and count product.
  • Work the hours needed to support the business goals (including overtime, weekends and holidays).
  • Remain open-minded, perform a wide variety of job tasks, and transition from task to task effectively (multi-task).
  • Be present and punctual; arrive prepared for work.
  • Complete work in a timely, accurate and consistent manner.
  • Plan and schedule time off in advance with supervisor or manager.
  • Maintain a “Whatever it Takes” attitude.
  • Seek out additional work when job tasks are completed and go above and beyond required tasks.
  • Participate in pre-shift meetings and department meetings.
  • Maintain daily housekeeping of operations building, equipment, break rooms, restrooms, smoke areas, etc.
  • Promote teamwork and assist in all areas and processes in the operation as needed/required.
  • Maintain high standards despite pressing deadlines, producing accurate, thorough and professional work.
  • Complete work correctly the first time ("Only Handle It Once – OHIO").
  • Follow all written and verbal instructions provided by management, project leader, etc.
  • Share all information in a professional and factual manner, reporting all issues to manager/supervisor.
  • Maintain an appropriate appearance and dress in accordance with established dress code guidelines.
  • Follow all safety rules, guidelines, and practices.
  • Inform supervisor/manager immediately if unsafe conduct or conditions arise.
  • Meet established productivity standards specific to the production job.
  • Understand the custom packaging process of the operations building.
  • Understand hourly production progress via goal board display or established metrics.
  • Take work direction from assigned line lead.
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and specific customer work instructions.
  • Follow established Safety and Security SOPs, policies, and guidelines (e.g., Custom Packaging Operations Dress Code and Personal Hygiene, Operations Dress Code and Custom Packaging General Rules and Notices, Lifting Properly, Knife Safety, Safety Glass policy).
  • Report all equipment malfunctions to management and/or line lead immediately.
  • Report all incidents, accidents, or unsafe acts to management or line lead immediately.
  • Ensure awareness of error and damage guidelines for the custom packaging production line operation or project.
  • Ensure that the product being received or shipped is sellable and meets customer expectations.
  • Ensure that customer requirements are followed for a quality end product (e.g., gluing of pretty boxes or cartons, product placement, stacking of product, folding of cartons, product placement in package, date code checks).
  • Complete all paperwork accurately and completely.
  • Report all product damage to manager or line lead immediately.
  • Participate in daily pre-shift meetings including stretching.
  • Participate in general area housekeeping especially at production line set up and tear downs.
  • Follow food/safety SOPs and AIB standards.
